Weed Control

Shenandoah is applying a mild weed control spray on targeted common area turf today, May 14.  The purpose of the spraying is to mitigate summer weeds that germinate in June and July and kill the grass.  As a precaution, do not walk pets or play on the areas while wet.  Once the area is dry, normal activities on the sprayed areas can resume.  Thank you.

COVID-19 Trash Handling Update

Trash haulers need to use bin loaders as much as possible to handle trash in response to the COVID-19 threat.   Patriot is asking us to maximize our use of bins for trash or recycling and refrain from simply leaving bagged trash at the curb.   Trash or recycling that does not fit in a container should be placed into a container for collection for the next pickup.

Note:  Earlier, we had posted that bin use would be mandated.  We have since requested and received a reprieve for those few home who cannot use a bin or do not have access to bins.  Stay safe and remain healthy.

Suspension of Yard Waste Service

In response to the current public health emergency and in accordance with the Solid Waste Advisory from Fairfax County, please be advised that Patriot Disposal will temporarily suspend the collection of yard waste from all Fairfax County residential customers, effective immediately.

Please note that this change is necessary to continue to protect the health of our employees during the COVID-19 emergency. Due to the significant number of residents who are quarantined in their homes, we have been experiencing an unprecedented increase in the amount of residential trash and recycling out for collection. Therefore, no adjustments will be made to your account for the omission of yard waste collection.

As a courtesy, Patriot Disposal will pick up Fairfax County residential yard waste next week, March 30th through April 3rd, along with the collection of regular household trash.

Pet Waste Stations

To help address pet waste negligently left on our sidewalks, yards, or individual trash bins, we have installed four pet waste stations across Hayfield View.   The stations have been installed at:  (1) Duddington Dr. and Hatherleigh Ct., (2) Duddington Dr. and Helmsdale Ln., (3) Helmsdale Ln. across Brighouse Ct., and (4) Lower Blanford Ct.

Doody Calls services our stations each week.  The stations are only meant to hold bagged dog waste, not other types of trash.  By reducing the incidents of dog waste on community grounds, we are confident that this initiative will benefit everyone in Hayfield View, not just dog owners!
